Disclaimer- This is a post about a main character from Harry Potter. If you have not read the series and plan to, proceed carefully. There may be spoilers. Enjoy!
Hey y'all! So, as most of you know (I hope), I am a huge Harry Potter nerd. I went to Barnes and Noble's release party when the Cursed Child came out, and when I got my hands on it, I read it in three hours (it's great, btw). Like I said, huge nerd. This post however, is about a character seldom even mentioned in the newest installment.
Hagrid is the most underestimated character in the whole series. I mean seriously. He was the one who rescued Harry from the wreckage of his house when his parents died, he rescued him from the Dursley's ten years later, he made him a homemade birthday cake, and had Harry, Ron, and Hermione over regularly for tea at Hogwarts. In my opinion, he was Harry's main father figure.
Hagrid has many times when we all go "aw Hagrid." For example, when he practically paved the way for Harry, Ron, and Hermione to find the sorcerer's stone and when he was put in Azkaban for something he didn't do. But there's a time in the fourth book when he says something that is so wise and can be applied to many life circumstances.
"What's comin' will come and we'll meet it when it does."
He's talking about Voldemort returning and facing that doom, but I think this can apply to most of life. We don't know what's going to be thrown at us, what's going to go right and what's going to go horribly wrong, or what unexpected turns we may take. We may not know this, but God does. My Bible teacher said something interesting the other day that I think goes along with this. She said, "The story has already been written. The ending is written and nothing can change that." God wrote the whole story, your whole story way before Adam and Eve. He knew about you before you were even thought of, and he knows how your story will end. Nothing you do can change that. This is where I think Hagrid's statement holds so much truth. "What's comin' will come..." We can't stop it and we can't change it. What's written will happen.
When the end of the story does come, we will be able to face it with full force. In reality, our Voldemort is the Devil. We know that he's out there, we know he's working to turn us to his side, and we know how to stop him. As my Bible teacher also said, "We've been given a spoiler alert! We know how the story ends!" I love that. Revelation is the biggest spoiler ever. Mainly because we know it's true. If you see a spoiler about the ending of the book before you read it, you may be a sceptic. But with the Bible, we know it's true and that what's written will happen. We also know that God will win the final battle against Satan. Victory will be his!! I love being able to think of a day when the devil will no longer be breathing down our necks, when he will no longer be playing with our minds until we can't accept God as a logical being.
God has given us the tools to face the Devil when he comes after us. So I concur with Hagrid in saying, "what's comin' will come, and we'll meet it when it does."

Sidney
